From front row to the media room, here's everything our editors wore to NZFW: Kahuria 2025.

New Zealand Fashion Week may be over for another year, but beyond the runway and street style imagery, there’s one question worth asking: what does a fashion editor wear when the spotlight turns to the industry itself?

Tasked with balancing back-to-back events and delivering coverage in real time, our wardrobes needed to marry fashion fluency with functionality. Here, the FQ editorial team reveals the looks that carried us through the week.

Day one

For the opening night of NZFW, the team opted for outfits that could take them from a day in the office and straight to Shed 10 for an evening show. With a last minute message that the show itself, ‘Into the Archives’, would be taking place outside, the team opted for warmth where possible. Think: oversized blazers, furry hats and  trenches pulled from the archives (Natalia’s look was worn at Kate Sylvester’s final NZFW show in 2023).

Day two

The second day of NZFW coincided with FQ’s quarterly sleepover to celebrate the launch of our Spring issue. With a late rooftop lunch and a night full of shows – including Juliette Hogan and Harris Tapper – on the cards, we embraced luxe looks that could easily take us from day to night. Key looks? Wide leg trousers, bow details and sheer dresses layered with outerwear.

Day three

This was the team’s busiest day of the week, which saw us attend multiple shoes throughout the day – including Claudia Li, Adrion Atelier and Kāhui Collective – before switching up our looks for a night of sky-high heels (Kathryn Wilson) and equally high photoshoots (Rebe). Our team opted for elevated separates paired with chic yet practical bags that could store everything we needed for a busy day of shows.

Day four

As NZFW fatigue started to set in on day four, the FQ team opted for looks that prioritised comfort. For the day we opted for knitwear and denim ensembles paired with shoes we could walk in for miles. By night, we took the opportunity to pull out our most glamorous looks for the Karen Walker and Zambesi shows. Think: button detail mini dresses and polka dots galore.

Day five and six

The final two days of NZFW were a family affair. With most of our coverage wrapped up for the week, we were able to soak up the excitement of fashion week with family members (Sarah took her children to the Sonnie show and Natalia took her mum to the Pacific Fusion Fashion Show). Our looks? Ensembles that felt put together but also extremely comfortable.
