One in nine Kiwis is diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast Cancer Cure is back this year with another tee collection designed by some of Aotearoa’s top designers.

We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer – whether it be a relative, friend or coworker. According to Breast Cancer Cure NZ, Aotearoa has one of the highest incidence rates of breast cancer in the world with one in nine New Zealanders diagnosed every year: “Breast Cancer is taking two of our nation’s women from us every day, whilst one woman is diagnosed with the disease every three hours.”

Breast Cancer Cure has enabled more than fifty-two research projects on breast cancer since 1997 thanks to their ongoing fundraisers such as Fashion for a Cure.

Nine of our favourite Kiwi designers including Juliette Hogan and Kathryn Wilson (to name a few) helped compose a winter ‘23 collection full of unique t-shirt styles for their iconic Tees for a Cure Campaign. Unlike previous years, this range of styles includes long-sleeve tees, crew-neck sweatshirts, hoodies and tech jackets available to purchase. All of the profits raised from the campaign will go towards funding valuable research for breast cancer, in an ongoing effort to improve inequities and outcomes for those diagnosed.

“[Tees for a Cure] has helped to slow the death rate by 1% per year with 89% of women diagnosed with early breast cancer now surviving more than five years. For the remaining 11% there is currently no cure and now more than ever our focus remains on this group and the 20-30% who subsequently go on to develop advanced breast cancer.”
