Zap it away…

While topical offerings are the easiest way to get rid of pigmentation, sometimes you need to delve a little deeper. That’s why I tested out a laser treatment called Clear & Brilliant. Aimed at those who are noticing the first signs of ageing, the trio of treatments uses laser energy to create millions of microscopic treatment zones in your skin. This in turn works to replace damaged skin with healthy, younger-looking tissue. Effectively it will erase fine lines, reduce pore size, even out skin tone and promote dewy-looking skin. After a topical anaesthetic was applied, the laser, which feels like a very hot ballpoint pen, was moved in zig-zagging motions across my skin. It’s not excruciating, but if you have a low threshold of pain like me, you will find it niggly and uncomfortable. Afterwards an Omnilux light was used to reduce the redness, which is the main side effect. It pays to put a wet flannel in the fridge to act as a cold compress for your face once you get home too. After three treatments, my pigmentation was reduced and I had many enquiries as to what I was using on my skin. My skin really did look clearer, brighter and more brilliant than ever before.

Forever Young package:
A course of three Clear & Brilliant treatments followed by three bonus Omnilux lights, $1500, available at About Face salons.
