How it works: Stem cells have been touted as the cure for anything because of their regenerative properties. In short, they’re the most basic type of cells that are able to divide and regenerate. Although human stems cells have been used, you’ll find plant-derived stem cells in most products. As their name suggests, they actually come from the stem of plants such as grapes, raspberries and algae.

You need it if: Your skin is looking dull and you want to renew it.
