Levi’s welcomes a high octane collaboration with McLaren; Rebe is hosting a month-long residency in Tāmaki Makaurau; the luxurious scalp facial you need to book; and more…

1. Hole in the wall

Since launching her first ready-to-wear collection late last year, Rebe Burgess’ eponymous label Rebe has been gone from strength to strength. Known for her elevated takes on contemporary staples, Burgess is hosting her first residency this month in Tāmaki Makaurau’s Ponsonby Central precinct. Open for one month only, the space has been beautifully curated to match Rebe’s chic yet understated aesthetic, and will stock her entire AW24 collection and signature footwear, alongside a small selection of jewellery from Jasmin Sparrow. For those keen to try on one of the brand’s coveted tailored sets in person, Burgess will be in-store for the duration of the pop up to assist with any sizing or styling queries. Rebe’s pop-up will be open every day from 10am – 4pm at  Shop 2, 136-146 Ponsonby Road, Auckland.

2. Scrub up well

Treat yourself (and your scalp) to a bit of TLC this winter with Chloe Zara’s new add-on scalp facial at The Facialist. As an often neglected area in our beauty routines, the scalp is particularly vulnerable during the change of season, making it a great time to give it some extra love. Offering gentle exfoliation, as well as moisturising and conditioning properties, Chloe Zara’s scalp facial works to reduce inflammation and unwanted build up. Throughout all of July and August, you’ll be able to add on a luxurious 15 minute scalp treatment  to any of The Facialist’s signature facials. As you lie back and relax, a nutrient-rich blend of Chloe Zara’s Silk Hair balm and hair oil is applied from the root to the tip, and further enhanced with massage and hot towel therapy to leave your scalp feeling luscious and healthy. Not in Auckland? You can purchase the trio online and experience from the comfort of your home.

3. Need for speed

There’s a new It-girl shoe on our radar for this season! Originally made for Formula One drivers in the late ’90s before being launched as lifestyle shoes in the early 2000s, PUMA’s iconic Speedcat sneakers have received a contemporary makeover for 2024, with an additional cat logo on the toebox and extra cushioning added underfoot for comfort. Drawing inspiration from the fireproof racing footwear worn by Grand Prix drivers, Speedcats are defined by their sleek, racing-inspired lines and streamlined aesthetic. Spotted recently on the likes of Dua Lipa and Emily Ratajkowski, the new version will be available in a trending red hue or classic black, and stocked  at Playpark by Karen Walker and Subtype stores, and available as online. You heard it here first.

4. Top drop

Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its world-class chardonnays, and among this lineup is the Mutu Reserve Chardonnay 2021, which recently secured the prestigious and rare Global Decanter Platinum Award. Of the 18,000 entries, only 117 wines were awarded with coveted Platinum medals after being blind taste-tested by nearly 250 wine experts. “Notably, it received an outstanding 97 points, further solidifying its status as a premium international Chardonnay,” said Mutu’s chief winemaker, Kel Dixon. Shed 530 (home of Mutu label) was one of the many wineries that was affected by Cyclone Gabrielle, requiring a complete rebuild after three buildings were destroyed. With plans underway to rebuild the winery’s cellar door, the brand’s Decanter Platinum Award for their Mutu Reserve Chardonnay 2021 is not just an accolade for their quality wines, but a testament to their enduring spirit in the face of adversity.

5. Hit the track

Fire on all cylinders this week with the new high-octane collaboration between Levi’s and McLaren. In a coming together of speed and style, the seven piece capsule collection’s launch coincides with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Decorated with sporty accents, the lineup includes a racing jacket, racing suit, racing gloves, trucker, 501® jeans, heritage t-shirt and a racing bandana. Drawing inspiration from McLaren’s vintage era, the racing jacket offers a cropped and boxy fit, featuring a chain stitch logo on the back and twill taping at the cuff and hem. The heritage 501® jeans also receive a makeover in the collection, with the left back pocket swapped for a crackle-print shadow pocket and vintage-inspired patches embroidered on to honour both brand’s respective legacies. Designed to look cool and move fast, you’ll want to get in quick to avoid missing out on this one.
