While many of us have learned to perfect the matte look that’s been en vogue for so long, as we turn towards Y2K-influenced styles, glossy makeup is the new look for 2022. Achieving this high-shine look is easy, and (spoiler alert) it’s all about your base. Read on for five steps to get your gloss on.

1. Primer

When trying to get that effortless, dewy glow, it’s crucial to consider which products you use on your skin. Hydrating with a good quality moisturiser is a start, but adding a primer into your routine is the best way to take your glossy look to the next level. Formulated with micronised pearls, Laura Mercier’s Illuminating Pure Canvas Primer provides a luminescent glow to the skin while nourishing it with high-quality ingredients. This primer will have you glowing for the gods when paired with a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturiser.

2. Cheeks

For your cheeks, think about switching your powder blush to a cream blush or tint for a flushed look that is easily blended. Unlike powders, the balmy texture of liquid blush allows it to fuse seamlessly with your existing base for a lightweight, glassy finish. We love Dior’s stick glow blush stick for a pop of dewy colour. The blush is available in 4 different shades and provides a pearlescent glow to the skin without being sticky.

3. Eyes

While some may choose to leave out the eyeshadow, a glossy lid can really bring your look together. Start by laying down your favourite matte or metallic shadows on the eyelid, and then grab the Morphe 2 gloss pop face and eye gloss and dab over the existing shadow. Unlike regular gloss, Morphe’s formula is eye-safe and will bring your eyes to life without creasing.

4. Lips

While our skin does most of the talking for this look, a glossy lip can be the icing on the cake. The L’Oréal Paris brilliant signature plumping gloss comes in 9 gorgeous shades and is formulated with hyaluronic acid and collagen for a plumping, reflective effect. Dab a little on your lips as the final step in your routine.

5. Setting Spray

Take your look from day to night with a shiny setting spray. Glossy makeup is all about looking dewy and hydrated, so it’s vital to ensure you’re opting for a non-mattifying spray to lock your look in place. We personally love the Anastasia Beverly Hills dewy set setting spray for a lightweight finish that delivers hydration and shine.

Now that you’ve got your beauty look sorted, here’s how to achieve smooth and sleek party hair
