5 things we love this week

Maggie Marilyn makes her much-anticipated menswear debut, a fashion label collaborates with a renowned London jeweller and more.

1. JEWEL PERSONALITIES

A match made in precious metal heaven, Kowtow has partnered with luxury local jeweller Monarc on a 14-piece collection of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and huggies, consciously crafted from 100% recycled precious metals and designed to be the perfect finishing touch for the kind of pared-back, contemporary summer look both brands are known for. B Corp Certified and inspired by the bold, geometric forms of mid-century sculptors Beverly Pepper and Clement Meadmore, Kowtow creative director Marilou Dadat and Monarc founder Ella Drake spent a year refining the collection before delivering the final result this week – jewellery that is bold, yet timeless enough to be a future keepsake.

2. MAGGIE DOES MENSWEAR

New Zealand fashion’s golden girl Maggie Marilyn has just given us another reason to show our support, launching her first pair of tailored trousers for men. Making shopping for the man in your life that much easier, drag him into one of Maggie Marilyn’s sanctuary-like stores in Newmarket, Britomart or Paddington, Sydney, and watch him walk out a cooler, more confident version of himself in this softly tapered, classic black trouser, crafted from New Zealand Merino and the ultimate foundation for summer’s linen shirts and light blazers – also available c/o Maggie, FYI. Produced in limited runs to minimise overproduction as per the brand’s ethos, snap up a couple of pairs before they sell out.

3. MERRY MECCA CHRISTMAS

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…that is, if you identify anywhere between beauty aficionado and addict, and are easily seduced by limited edition sets, festive packaging, and fragrances that evoke all the best things about the holidays, from pine trees to gingerbread and – not to forget we live in the southern hemisphere – fresh coconut and salty ocean notes reminiscent of summers spent camping at the beach. Officially launched in all Mecca stores and online this week, Mecca’s holiday collection features a cornucopia of gifts at all price points, from Secret Santa stocking fillers that’ll make you a hit at the office Christmas party, to the no-expenses-spared fragrance and skincare gift sets that promise to wow when only a grand gesture will do.

Shop Mecca’s holiday collections at all Mecca stores and online.

4. UPGRADE, PLEASE

Luxe wellness space Hana, perhaps best known for its Sauna and Ice-Bath Contrast Therapy but also home to one of Auckland’s best Infrared Sauna experiences, as well as the popular PBM or Red Light Therapy, has just introduced a special add-on menu to truly elevate your session and leave you feeling optimised inside and out. In the infrared sauna and contrast therapy rooms, you can opt for the Sans Ceuticals Pro Facial Ritual – a four-step process that combines a powerhouse of key active ingredients and cryotherapy to boost circulation, reduce inflammation and promote healing. Or, upgrade your PBM session with one of three, Beauty Chef Supercharged elixirs designed to support hydration, collagen production or immunity.

Add the Sans Ceuticals Pro Facial Ritual to your next Hana appointment

5. DIGITAL MEETS DANCE

Aotearoa’s world-leading contemporary dance troupe Black Grace is a must-see every season, and this year, company founder and director Neil Ieremia (ONZM) has produced a breathtaking work that amalgamates art, movement and technology in a way that democratises dance and places Black Grace at the pinnacle of innovation – all in our backyard. Opening this Sunday November 20 at Auckland’s Karanga Plaza, Wynyard Quarter, The Art of Black Grace 1/5 is an immersive dance experience that takes place inside a 360-degree cylindrical structure, with visuals and sounds displayed on 288sqm of LED panels.
