A delicious drop straight from the Queen’s grapes – we’re in.

For those who love a fresh summer sparkling wine, you might be able to get your next bottle straight from the Queen’s Windsor Great Park Estate.

The Telegraph reports that in 2011 almost 16,700 chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier vines were planted on the estate’s almost three hectare vineyard.

The grape harvest in 2013 produced close to 2,000 bottles of the English wine, which were released for sale just in time for Christmas.

The wine, which sold as a three bottle gift set for £75 (NZ $130) was stocked at English wine boutique Laithwaites and quickly sold out. Decanter reports that the 2014 vintage, due for release towards the end of this year, will sell for £35 (NZ $60) a bottle.

It’s possible more of the popular wine may be available in the future with production expected to rise to around 20,000 bottles a year within the next decade.

Perhaps next summer we’ll all have ditched frosé for a chilled glass the Queen’s finest.
