To me, Fashion Week always feels somewhat like school camp and a reunion all at once and to be invited to spend the week with the FQ team is always a highlight for me. For most it’s months and months of hard work in the lead up to a show, an event or a presentation. There are dozens of people who put their hearts and soul into these creations and it’s all for fifteen minutes of hoping it all comes together perfectly.

Usually, we are working with teams on projects, shoots, putting together magazines or collection campaigns but during fashion week we all get to work alongside each other. The energy varies from show to show, and from day to day but in amongst the long days and tight schedules and even tighter turnarounds there is so much magic that unfolds through the week. From the serenity backstage that Juliette Hogan fosters whilst creating a 35 look show, to By Kai’s incredibly moving and triumphant debut, and Claudia Li’s beautifully considered off-site that transported us to New York.

Over the years, I have had many different roles in and around the week, but now I am lucky enough to get a first hand look at the magic behind the curtain and play a small part in telling the stories that these teams work so hard to create. I usually get to the end of the week and feel incredibly sentimental about the whole thing.

I find it hard to describe what happens during fashion week and the energy we all share, but at the end of the day it’s always incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by the most hard-working and creative people who work tirelessly all in the name of celebrating self expression and a love of storytelling.

At the risk of sounding incredibly earnest, but maybe I am? I do actually get to live my dream.

What follows is a small glimpse into how the week unfolded, capturing not only what happened behind the scenes, but the people, energy and fleeting moments that make Fashion Week what it is.
