Mars earrings

Third-year AUT fashion student Holly Marbeck, who has been under the wing of Georgia Alice for the past year, is now capturing international attention with her jewellery label Mars.

Sparked from the need of another outlet aside from clothing, the label is an extension of her creative brain. And with props already from trendsetters such as Jason Wu and Nadia Fairfax, we’re sure there are plenty of exciting things to come for Marbeck and her brand.

Where does your inspiration come from?
I’m inspired by everything! Beautiful humans, landscapes, artwork… I like my jewellery to be very organic in its shapes and I enjoy the fact that no two will ever be the same. I love the fluid shapes and forms that are created through my earrings.

How do you make your earrings?
All earrings are handmade by me. The way I make them means that they couldn’t be replicated which I think is really important seeing as we live in such a consumer-driven time, where anything exciting is so easily dulled down and mass produced by chain stores. The way they are physically made is a bit of a secret but it’s a mixture of clay and other magic.

What’s next?
Everything is still pretty fresh and I have so much more planned for the future. The feedback so far has been really positive which is super exciting! I hope to keep expanding the brand, and getting even more inspiring people wearing Mars.
