On a cool spring evening, Fashion Quarterly and Commercial Bay came together to host Spring Style Reset, dedicated to personal style, colour and approaching the new season with fresh eyes. Marking the launch of the precinct’s four day Solstice celebrations, the night celebrated the shift into longer days, new collections and a wave of creative energy.
Attracting a stylish crowd eager for a little inspiration, Origine was swiftly filled with cheerful chatter as cocktails were poured and canapés passed through the crowd. Guests sipped on a refreshing Solstice cocktail, named the Solstice Star, and a bespoke mocktail, named The Pomme De Paris, while sampling a sneak peek of delectable dishes from Origine’s upcoming new menu, mingling amongst the beautifully styled space brought to life by Flock.
Hosted by FQ editor-in-chief Sarah Murray, the evening brought together FQ beauty editor-at-large and personal stylist Lucy Slight, and Georgette Pollock-Johnston of Styled by Georgette for a conversation on understanding what works for you and dressing for the season ahead.
Once on stage, our panellists shared their approach to personal style, from finding what genuinely suits your shape and lifestyle to treating colour as a tool rather than a trend. From building a wardrobe with intention to letting go of pieces that no longer serve you, the panel offered practical, honest insights into what it means to get dressed with confidence today.
Georgette then put the conversation into practice, demonstrating how the four colour seasons could be applied through a curated edit of looks pulled from the rack, featuring pieces from Moochi, Superette, Zambesi, Juliette Hogan, Scotch & Soda and Aje.
From there, guests made their way through Commercial Bay to Oroton, where champagne and nibbles awaited on arrival, along with a look at the brand’s new precinct store and a complimentary Bamboo Umbrella with any spend during the event, all part of the wider Solstice celebrations.
Spring Style Reset: Take home notes
The night unfolded as a practical, down-to-earth conversation around personal style, colour and getting ready with more intention. Across styling, media and colour theory, each panellist offered a different way into the same idea: dressing well doesn’t have to mean dressing differently.
A recurring thread was the idea that personal style isn’t about chasing trends, but knowing what actually works for you. Colour emerged as a tool rather than a rulebook, with the panel exploring how knowing your own colour season can take the guesswork out of getting dressed. As the conversation turned toward the months ahead, it became more reflective, less about following a formula and more about building a wardrobe that moves with you.
Inside the goodie bags…
