By Fashion Quarterly

When it comes to all things health, body and wellness, you’ll want these girls on your radar (and your ‘follow’ list).

Our Miss FQ Maybelline Influence Awards have returned in full force for 2019 and as you’ve no doubt already seen, every category is overflowing with talent so outstanding, we weren’t sure how we were going to keep it to just five finalists per category.

The Health, Body and Wellness category has been no different and once again, this crowd favourite is filled with inspiring females, smashing life, getting stuck in and inspiring us with what they’re doing. Whether it’s in the pool, on the catwalk, in the gym or out on the water, your finalists all have one thing in common; they’re passionate about sharing their stories and bettering the lives of others.

Are you ready to meet your finalists in the Health, Body and Wellness category as nominated by you?

ELLA WILLIAMS
@ellaoliviawilliams

Ella is a world junior surf champion, and aside from ripping up the waves, she’s also into all things health and fitness. This beach babe is always smiling and on the go all around the world, capturing moments of her life competing abroad and making us all jealous of her killer bod (and tan) wherever she is! If this isn’t #inspo to go for your dreams, then we don’t know what is!

NIKKI CRERAR
@fitnessalltogether

Nikki is the co-founder of Fitness All Together, an intimate movement community which expands the walls of your gym or home both figuratively and literally, taking members outside into the fresh air and nature to exercise, where it can become not just another thing to do on your check list but an enjoyable social activity too. When she’s not breaking a sweat during a FAT workout, busy bee Nikki is also a fashion model and yoga instructor.

SOPHIA MALTHUS
@sophia_malthus

Twenty-two-year-old former jockey Sophia Malthus was left a tetraplegic after a horse-riding accident in 2016 but despite this setback, it hasn’t stopped her from achieving her dreams. While she has lost most sensation from the collarbone down, her legs are fully impaired and she has little movement in her arms, Sophia has got on with things, becoming one of the most recognisable models during 2019’s NZ Fashion Week and sharing her story publicly, advocating for people to embrace and be grateful for the body they’re in. Her infectious personality and extreme positivity has won her fans both online and off.

JAZZ THORNTON AND GENEVIEVE MORA
@voicesofhope

Jazz and Genevieve are mental illness survivors who draw on their own personal experiences to run Voices of Hope, an organisation designed to support people struggling with mental health issues. Their focus has been on facilitating positive discussion around mental health in New Zealand through videos, content and TV appearances and their work has gained recognition both nationally and internationally, even catching the eye of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex while they were visiting New Zealand in 2018.

SOPHIE PASCOE
@sophiepascoe1

Sophie is a nine-time gold medal Paralympic champion swimmer and New Zealand’s most decorated Paralympian across any sport. She just won four gold medals at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London and while there, broke the world record S9 50-metre freestyle. As well as being a hugely successful sportsperson, Sophie is an advocate for body image and her story about overcoming adversity has had such a positive influence on Kiwis young and old.

Stay tuned to see who has taken out their category, announced September 26, 2019.
