Want a boyf/gf who hates the same things as you? There’s an app for that

Is ‘mutual hate’ the new ‘mutual love’?

When you’re dating, sharing interests is a good thing, right? Although they do say you should never talk politics or religion on the first date.

But what if you could actually connect with your potential S.O. through a shared love of all the things you don’t like? Where neither of those topics are excluded.

Scary stuff…

Technology it would seem, is now out to show dating and hating do in fact go together with this month’s release of a new app called Hater.

Hater CEO Brendan Alpher, a former comedic writer said he had originally come up with the idea as a bit of a joke.

“The more I thought about it, the more I thought ‘Hey even though this was a funny idea, it actually makes a lot of sense.’,” he told The Cut.

It works in a similar way to Tinder and Grinder, with users swiping up for love, down for hate, right for like or left for dislike.

There are over 2000 topics The Cut reports, from the political (Donald Trump), through to what’s trending in pop culture (Taylor Swift (WTF? We know!)).

While the app is a fun take on ‘hate’, there’s no place for real hate. Alpher emphasises this point by stating, “we view hate speech as completely unacceptable, we have zero tolerance for any sort of bigotry or hate speech or discrimination.”

The app officially launched on February 8. Will you be downloading?
