Has the death of cleavage been declared?

Boobs are taking a well-earned break, apparently.

Cleavage is out and fashion is taking a softer, more subtle approach to flashing flesh, according to UK Vogue.

In an article entitled “Desperately Seeking Cleavage” the author writes breast-baring garments have been noticeably absent from the red carpet and runway of late, and that getting your boobs out for the boys is now considered completely uncool.

“The cleavage – those magnificent mounds pushed together to display sexual empowerment, to seduce, to inspire lust or even just to show off – is over, or at least, taking a well-earned break.”

“The tits will not be out for the lads. Or for anyone else, for that matter,” states Kathleen Baird-Murray.

But the break, while appearing driven by fashion, could have its roots in a changing political climate as attitudes towards gender stereotypes continue to shift, the author suggests .

“Rejecting the stereotypes of gender has been brought sharply into focus, with the days of women as eye-candy, their sexuality positively smouldering rather than subtly played out, officially over.”

With boobs officially out, the flesh to flash are your shoulders, stomach or legs, the fashion bible has decreed.

Other trendspotters have noted new cleavage trends in the spotlight: side-boob is on the rise, as is an increase of women wearing soft-cup lingerie.
