5 things we loved this week

By Sophie de Renzy

From fragrance inspired by vanilla ice cream and a mouse made for life on the move to surf-tinged silhouettes and rare baby cashmere — this week’s edit has you covered.

1. Surf’s up

Sun-soaked nostalgia meets everyday wearability in Commonplace Essentials’ Pre-Spring ’26 collection, ‘Superstylin Part I’. Inspired by surf culture and the iconic energy of the late ’90s, the range reimagines classic prep through a distinctly feminine lens. Relaxed silhouettes, sporty detailing and versatile layering pieces are brought to life in a palette of cream, lemonade, navy and sky blue. Finishing touches come courtesy of standout footwear styles, including satin flats, leather mules and the ever-practical clog, all designed to take you from season to season with ease.

2. I scream, you scream

We all scream for ice cream. Specifically, Abel Double Scoop EDP. A vanilla scent, but not as you know it, Abel has put an unexpected twist on a typically sweet fragrance profile, combining toasted, milky vanilla with a savoury edge of rosemary essential oil, balsamic and black sesame. The result brings umami and salty depth to create an incredibly modern scent. Abel founder Frances Shoemack describes it as “posh ice cream and aperitivo hour spilling onto the street”, so really, enough said. And, as with all Abel fragrances, Double Scoop is formulated with 100% natural ingredients, harnessing the expertise of master perfumers.

3. Barely there

A Softer View sees Elle & Riley turn to one of the rarest fibres in luxury knitwear: Baby Cashmere. Sourced from the first combing of young cashmere goats, it is collected only once in their lifetime, producing an exceptionally fine and limited yield that sits at the very top of the category. The result is a softness you feel instantly – lightweight, warm and almost cloud-like against the skin.

4. Fold and go

Designed for modern life on the move, Logitech’s new Mobi Fold proves that great things really do come in small packages. The brand’s first foldable mouse combines sleek design with smart functionality, transforming from a pocket-sized travel companion into a comfortable, high-performance workspace essential in seconds. Lightweight yet durable, and available in four stylish colourways, Mobi Fold is designed to keep pace with life on the go — whether you’re working from an airport lounge, a neighbourhood café or a co-working space.

5. Raise a glass

For those who appreciate the finer things, Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour’s new L’Heure du Vin series offers the perfect excuse to linger a little longer over dinner. Launching this June, the quarterly event pairs exceptional wines with thoughtfully crafted menus in an intimate setting inspired by the French art of living well. The inaugural evening sees Church Road Winery take centre stage, with a five-course menu by Executive Chef Maninder Singh designed to showcase some of Hawke’s Bay’s most celebrated drops.

Tickets are priced at $185 per person and can be purchased via sofitel-auckland.com.
