The natural look

The ‘barely there’ face has dominated the catwalk recently and it’s safe to say we’ll see more of it. It may seem like you don’t use much makeup, but in reality you do – it’s all blended in to enhance your features.

Step 1: Prep your skin with a moisturiser and an illuminating primer.

Step 2: Follow with foundation – use a sheer formula or a BB cream.

Step 3: Use a concealer around the eye to cover dark circles.

Step 4: Fill in your brows with a brow pencil or powder.

Step 5: Brush a neutral colour over your eyelids – pick one that’s two shades darker than your skin tone so that your skin is enhanced.

Step 6: Apply a light coat of mascara and if you really want to create a nice natural separation, use a little fan brush instead of the mascara wand.

Step 7: Finish with blush, a couple of shades darker than your skin tone. A crème blush will practically melt into your cheeks, creating a natural flush.

Our picks: L’Oréal Paris Lumi Magique Primer, $38. 9 Benefit BadGal Lash Mascara, $36; Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Nylon Nude, $45; Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Amp’d Up Apple, $57; Kiehl’s Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream, $62; and Dr Hauschka Eyeshadow 02, $29.
