Luscious lox(ys)
I’ll admit it: I’m obsessed with Elle Ferguson. Not in a crazy way, but in an I-want-to-be-you-and-live-your-life kind of way. Aside from her wardrobe which is out-of-this-world amazing, her hair is my #goals.
The crazy thing is that I used to have hair like her; I’ve never been emotionally attached to my hair TBH, and my Agyness Deyn-like pixie cut circa 2011 proves that, but I’ve sadly never managed to get my length back to its beautiful state before I woke up one morning and decided then and there to chop it all off.
For the past year or so, I’ve been pretty happy with my on-trend blunt bob but, just like the short ‘do situ, I suddenly decided that I wanted to extend the length of my locks ASAP. However I defo don’t have the patience to wait for it to grow out (because who wants to wait? Let’s be real) so I booked in with Kate Jarrett, the lovely founder and owner of Loxy’s Hair Boutique in Ponsonby, Auckland to get a full head of extensions using her unique combination of the traditional weave and the micro ring technique.
The consultation
I sat down with Kate to find out the answers to all of your (and my) burning questions, like how high maintenance hair extensions are, how often they need to washed, which products to use and how long they’ll last:
After the initial consultation, I went back a week later to have her beautiful extensions put in and blended.
The application took two hours and I was instantly obsessed with how seamless my luscious long locks looked. There’s no way I’m going back to my blunt bob now.
