I didn’t wash my hair for three days and this is what happened

Let us start by saying that Miss FQ’s Digital Editor, Skye Ross is no Kim Kardashian but she tried really, really hard to be… for three whole days.

Kim K famously told her fans on kimkardashianwest.com that she only shampoos her hair “twice a week to prevent it from drying out.”

“I usually wash my hair maybe every 3-5 days and on the third or fourth day I’ll do a slicked-back ponytail,” she wrote on her website.

As inspired as I was by her low-maintenance hair routine (especially for someone who seems very high maintenance), I figured not washing my hair for three days was long enough to take it to the edge of ‘no poo’ without completely ridding of any freshness I might have. Five days would simply be too much, plus that would take a lot of dry shampoo for my oil-prone tresses.

For someone who likes to wash their hair every second day, three days of no washing (not even including the day of cleansing!) would be a struggle. I know full well that my hair looks its best on day two. But by day four? Oh no, honey.

Despite my fear, I embarked on three days of unique hairstyles with plenty of Batiste Dry Shampoo in tow and this is what happened… *insert scared face emoji here*

Dear diary… Post-Blow wave

I told you my hair looks its best on day two, right? Yeah, look at this Snapchat selfie! #noshame

With a spritz of Batiste Heavenly Volume Dry Shampoo Plus, $12.99, my curls stayed intact and I managed to maintain that luscious look-at-me-I’ve-just-been-to-the-hairdresser volume. My fave.

Normally I’d wash my hair on this day but tonight I can’t because #nowashchallenge. Wish me luck!

Dear diary… Hunday Monday

The hun is today’s saving grace. I’m convinced my wider Miss FQ and Fashion Quarterly team are looking at me like this isn’t a style I’d normally opt for, which is because I don’t but I’m glad to be trying something different.

If you don’t know what a hun is, it’s a half-up, half-down style where the up bit is a bun, instead of a ponytail. Please refer to send Snapchat selfie, below.

Yesterday’s Batiste Heavenly Volume Dry Shampoo has really helped today’s style by giving me plenty of texture to work with.

I’m also getting plenty of compliments on the Batiste Eden Dry Shampoo, $12.99, I keep spraying in the ‘down’ part of my hair because it smells so freaking good! The limited edition fruity fragrance has hints of sweet melon and honeysuckle and I love the fact that the scent lasts for over four hours.

Maybe this three day thing might end up as a regular occurrence. We’ll know after tomorrow.

Dear diary… Slick as can be

What Kim says, Skye does. It’s time for a sleek bun à la Mrs. Kardashian-West herself.

Don’t get me wrong though, I’m still using plenty of Batiste Dry Shampoo. I mean, we’re going for sleek, not oil slick!

To ensure I still looked like I had been washing my hair, I opted for a can of Batiste Brilliant Blonde Dry Shampoo, $12.99, to get me through the day. Thankfully, the blonde colour gave me a much needed added freshness and vibrancy to my perfect low bun and I personally don’t think people could even tell that I was four days deep sans washing my hair! Goals, amiright?

As it turns out, I can survive more than a few days with only dry shampoo and some creative hair freedom.

I actually might even be a Kim Kardashian hair routine convert… who would have thought?
