Content creator Sunny Kaur on motherhood:
What has been the most rewarding aspect of motherhood for you?
I’ve loved watching Jessie growing up and becoming her own independent young woman. And now I will get to do the same with Zahra.
How do you balance the demands of parenting with your personal and professional life?
It’s definitely been challenging lately! Especially with my husband is working so much. I’ve had to juggle kids full-time and life and work. But I try my best to get out and do things I enjoy, like shopping or going for a cup of coffee at my favourite cafe. It definitely makes me happier being back home to work.
What advice would you give to new mums who are just starting their parenting journey?
It’s always the same advice from all mums: it’s hard at the beginning but it gets easier once you start to get your life back a little. Make time for you always. It makes being a mum even more worth it.
How do you handle the challenges and stresses that come with being a mum?
I’m not perfect at it all! Especially not since Zahra’s arrival. When she came along Jessie was old enough to do her own thing and I was just finding myself again. Now, my priorities are that mum life again and it’s been challenging for me—mentally and physically. But I’ve been trying out different things like training at EMS Training and I’ve started Pilates which I see so many mums doing. I think just doing things for yourself certainly helps with the stress of being a mum all day.
I also love creating content which makes me happy as I feel like I have something that is just for me while juggling mum life.
Do you enjoy cooking?
Honestly not all the time! And that’s coming from someone who actually does cook most days. I do love cooking on my own but on the odd occasion I love baking with Jessie. It’s a great way to get more quality time together. Jessie loves to help me in the kitchen and, to be honest, it’s a good opportunity for us to have that one on one time together where we can share about our day.
What are some of your favourite recipes to make together as a family?
We have been enjoying making pancakes on Sundays. It’s Daddy’s only day off with us and it’s a great way to do something fun and get everyone involved. The Ninja Air Fryer Max makes it so quick and easy – and especially less messy with kids.
Can you share a memorable story or anecdote from one of your cooking sessions with your kids?
Jessie and I have always loved baking blueberry muffins together and now we can’t wait to have Zahra involved too! It’s a memory that they will cherish forever.
