Jetsetbohemian sales assistant Nicole Pollard follows her fashion intuition.

How would you define good style?
Being yourself, being unique and just having the knack and a good eye to put outrageous things together and make them incredible to look at.

Is this your only job?
I’m also painting and dabbling in a few things like photography, making jewellery and sewing. This year, my goal is to have an exhibition for the paintings I’m working on.

Do you have to stop yourself buying everything in store?
Yes! When I first started it was a nightmare. Even the homeware gets me. There are always new beautiful things coming in so it’s hard to stop!

What’s your favourite piece in store?
My favourite things are the vintage one-off pieces. Also the antiques in the homeware store are incredible. There’s a demon face door knocker which I’m dying to own − but I don’t think my landlord would be very impressed.

Where do you like to shop for clothes?
Everywhere, generally vintage shops but sometimes I can’t help fall in love with amazing designers like Vivienne Westwood and Alexander Wang – but I try to stay clear because they are quite an investment.

What are some fashion trends that you’re embracing at the moment?
I don’t really follow trends. I dress up for myself.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
I love mixing different eras. Amazing individuals and art give me inspiration. I tend to be pretty obscure with my choices, being punk or witchy one day and the next day dressing elegant and classic. It really depends on how I feel but I love dressing up.

Is there anything you would you never wear?
Plain clothing − I hope I never lose confidence in wearing things I enjoy and opt for going plain.

What makes a good customer?
A customer who knows what they want and is excited about trying on amazing clothing. People who are interesting and always keen for a good chat. We are so lucky at Jetsetbohemian, we have some really beautiful customers!

What’s an accessory or item of clothing that everyone needs in their wardrobe?
Platforms, definitely platforms.

What are the most memorable sales?
It would have to be all the ladies who come in and barely try anything on or look at the items they are going to get − they are just like, “I’ll get that, that one and that one”.

Whose style do you admire?
So many people. It’s hard to just pick one person; Frida Kahlo, Marie Antoinette, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Siouxsie Sioux. I could go on and on!
