Veteran models Pat Cleveland, Jerry Hall and Marisa Berenson’s were muses for the late fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, who died back in 1987, aged 44. This month MAC has bought his artistic genius back to life with a collection of makeup palettes and accessories adorned with the models iconic images. James Gager, MAC’s senior vice president believes as an art form, these images are timeless and glamorous. “Our collection with Antonio Lopez is symbolic of a time when indulgence was at its peak… there was a magic to his world and a time in history that hasn’t been recaptured. I think people are lusting after that glamour, which is difficult to come by today,” he said.

And if international sales are anything to go by, you will need to be quick. The make-up bags, mirrors, totes and compacts, printed with Lopez’s vibrant watercolour illustrations are limited-editions. For eyes, lips and the face, there are a range of 80’s-inspired shades such as violet, teal, fuchsia and gold.

The Antonio Lopez collection is on MAC counters now and priced from $82.Pictured here the Teal Eye Palette and the Fuchsia Lip Palette.
