Amy Schumer makes history as the first woman to get a spot on the Forbes top-paid comedians list.
Amy Schumer – the comedian well-loved by legions of fans the world over for her fresh and funny take on feminism – has become the first female to elbow her way to a place among the Forbes top 10 list of highest paid comedians.
The award-winning comic, author, film and TV star has shot to fourth position, sitting behind Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld and Terry Fator, with earnings of $US17million ($23million) in the year to June 2016.
Amy brought in the big bucks this year with her international tour (she’ll be coming to New Zealand in December), her hit movie Trainwreck, her Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer, a $10.4 million book deal for The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo, as well as advertising deals with Old Navy and a Bud Light campaign.
She also broke another record this year too:becoming the first woman to headline a comedy show at Madison Square in New York.
Amy’s particular brand of comedy and in-your-face attitude towards life in general, keeps her well and truly in the media spotlight.
Last week she threw shade in true Amy Schumer-form on the Emmys red carpet, when an interviewer asked her a question about what she was wearing rather than about the six nominations she was up for. She totally nailed them with with this reply: “Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford shoes and an OB tampon.”
