Good vibes and great times
When it comes to Auckland Anniversary, we look forward to this long weekend a little more than most. Probably because it’s the first long weekend after the Christmas break (which seems like years ago, ya feel), and mainly because Laneway Festival is without fail, a freakin’ good time! With great tunes, yummy eats, delicious drinks and street style-worthy fashion, what isn’t to love?!
As seasoned Laneway pros, we’ve put together a quick guide to making the most of the day, with the help of some local artists.

Beat the queues and grab an early dinner; you must be starving by now anyway.
For a mouth-wateringly delicious burger, opt for the Bearded Clam.
Need a side? Fatimas’ potato koftas are to die for.
If you’re vego, Lord of the Fries has been affectionately dubbed the “vegetarian fast food revolution.”
Or, on the opposite side of the spectrum, if you want slow cooked, wood smoked, quality NZ meat, Miss Moonshine’s is your best bet.
Time check: 5:45 pm
For a sweet treat, hit up Moustache; their cookies are insanely addictive. If you’re on a ‘new year, new me’ diet, throw it out the window because you are on public holiday after all!
Once you’ve demolished your dessert, make your way to the Rotunda stage to see King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard the for nothing if not the name. They’re up-and-comers in the music scene, so you’d srsly be a fool to miss them.

Kiwi band, The Veils are playing at the Fountain stage RN.

It might be a little bit before his set, but you really should get to Princes Street stage STAT for Nick Murphy (aka Chet Faker). Ensure you get a wicked spot.
Time check: 9 pm
Visit the Rotunda stage to see Flight Facilities for 20 mins, before watching the ultimate headliner at 9:30pm. We recommend giving yourself 10 minutes to get there, just in case.

Tame Impala is the band you’ve been waiting for! The sun has set over the Princes Street stage and it’s time to jam with the critically-acclaimed artists from across the ditch.
Time check: 10:30 pm
Laneway Festival 2017 has come to an end but wasn’t it the best day evs?! Go in the direction of the entrance to catch an Uber and head home to bed. You must be exhausted, but at least it’s a short week!
Top tips from some local artists:
“I always try to get lots of sleep the night before and make sure I stay hydrated and eat really well on the day. Always helps to have a banana or two in your bag and make sure you’ve got a fully charged phone, nothing worse than losing your pals!” – Katherine Anderson aka k2k
“Wear your best silk dress and always keep spare money in your shoe (this is easier done if you’re wearing boots!) just in case.” – Valentine Dixon from Purple Pilgrims
“Leave your phone at home and experience the now!” – Clementine Dixon from Purple Pilgrims
