5 things we loved this week

Everything we’re sippin’, saving, and splurging on this week. With newness from the likes of Jasmin Sparrow, Honest Wolf and Nespresso, you know this edit is going to be a cosy one.

1. In bloom

New Zealand jewellery designer Jasmin Sparrow – whose oversized sculptural clip-on earrings have seen our editors through the past few seasons – has quietly released a new maximalist collection aptly named ‘Petal’. Inspired by the sensory pleasure of gardens, this succinct edit of earrings, rings, and bracelets guide us to consider imperfection and cyclical rhythms. Photographed by Clara Pafundi in the beautiful jardins of Paris, France, Petal is fast becoming a symbol of admiration for the dynamic and ever-changing Jasmin Sparrow woman. Pieces like the Dahlia Bracelet and Tulip Ring send us to far flung places all while feeling familiar, like something we’d expect to stumble upon in a beloved relative’s jewellery box. With both 18k gold-plated and silver finishes available across the collection, Petal pieces add a strong feminine touch to any outfit and (naturally) we’re obsessed.

2. Any beans necessary

As we bunker down, warding off the outdoor chill, the mid-morning coffee becomes a place of respite, however fleeting. Nespresso New Zealand has partnered with local tastemakers Polly Markus, Zeenat Wilkinson, TEEKS, and Hercules Noble to take that simple moment to the next level, introducing their own coffee recipes to try out for yourself. Polly Markus’ morning go-to is a double shot flat white using Double Espresso Chiaro; Zeenat Wilkinson uses the Altissio in her energising coffee and collagen smoothie; singer TEEKS reaches for Fortado to make his stormy mocktail; while Hercules clings to the iced latte with the Double Espresso Dolce capsule. Alongside new seasonal flavours to try (we’re looking at you Vertuo Maple Pecan), these recipes are a fun way to spice up your routine and get excited about the changing seasons.

3. Winner’s circle

Local luggage and accessory brand Honest Wolf has set the Paris 2024 Olympic Games’ wheels in motion with their release of licensed New Zealand Team wool and leather accessories. Both coming from competitive rowing backgrounds, Honest Wolf founders Sam and Sophie Hurley have created this edit to support the Aotearoa with portions of each sale going directly to the Team. From woollen caps featuring the NZ Team embossed leather patch and their iconic weekender bag with a message of encouragement embossed on its strap, to a Passport Holder made with homegrown Papanui Estate Wool, Honest Wolf have stepped up to the plate with all the travel additions one would need (and for the lucky few who are heading over to France to see the action live). The combination of practical silhouettes and timeless detailing gives us the feeling that these pieces will be loved for decades and perhaps even go on to younger generations. We love to see it!

Available in their Hunterville store or online now.

4. Purple reign

We rarely leave home without one of Aēsop’s nourishing hand balms in our bags, and as of this week, we’re adding a new scent to our rotation. Made with a special blend of cedar atlas, patchouli and clove bud essential oils, the brand’s new Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm leaves a long lasting woody and herbaceous aroma on the skin. Providing a much needed dose of hydration from the addition of humectants, emollient butters and oils, Eleos nourishes and softens the skin without leaving that dreaded greasy finish. Especially suited for use during the colder months, it aids in supporting the skin’s natural barrier, sealing in hydration for hours.

Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm is available in a 75mL wisteria-purple recycled aluminium tube, and a 500mL recycled PET bottle with a pump. Shop it in-store or online now.

5. Good for you

Make your next grocery shop a chic and sustainable one by heading to the newly opened GoodFor store in Grey Lynn — the brand’s eighth wholefood refillery in Aotearoa. Unlike regular supermarkets, shopping at Goodfor is a meditative experience from start to finish. Upon entry, you’re invited to cleanse your hands in the bespoke steel basin before perusing each station to grind, mill, fill and pour a carefully curated range of organic household and pantry items. For the coffee and tea lovers, a range of dispensaries from local rosters Ozone, Supreme and L’affare await you; and for the breakfast fiends, there’s a dedicated pancake and waffle station with organic mixes and Canadian maple syrups to pour. Offering a fast and mess-free tap-operated liquid refillery for your kitchen and bathroom cleaning products, you can also ensure minimising unnecessary waste and plastics in your home. Simply bring your own jars along or opt for GoodFor’s branded range and multi-purpose Weck jars alongside compostable snaplock and paper bags.

GoodFor GreyLynn is open 7 days a week at 274A Richmond Road, Grey Lynn.
