We’re in the thick of fashion month and the evidence for investing in chic outerwear for autumn/winter is mounting. First Milan, now Paris – we’re seeing oversized faux furs, vintage plaid, deep muddy greens, and abstract silhouettes carved from leather en masse.
At Saint Laurent, generously cut double-breasted jackets complement their sheer vision in rich velvety hues; Dries Van Noten served shaggy fur-like mohair coats, cropped jackets worth their weight in iridescent sequins, and floor length tan tartan robes; and Balmain’s Bordeaux-inspired collection wrapped French ladylike demure in bold checks, delicate beading, floor-grazing fur, and big big shoulders. And don’t get us started on their gold grape clutches…
