Christian Louboutin has opened its first bricks and mortar store in New Zealand. Founded in Paris, France in 1992 and famed for their iconic red-lacquered soles, which are synonymous with luxury and celebrity, the new boutique is a welcome addition for label lovers who had previously had to spring across the ditch to secure a pair. Situated on lower Queen Street in Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau, the store’s official opening night attracted a number of notable industry figures including Karen Walker, gallerist Michael Lett, and Fashion Quarterly.
Stepping inside the new store, it’s clear that every detail in its construction has been considered. Designed as an homage to Christian Louboutin’s personal apartment in Paris, the intimate yet lavish space beckons with well-placed red accents, providing an inviting haven for patrons to explore the diverse array of shoes, bags, and accessories.
The boutique’s facade, adorned with red scale tiles and blue ceramics, pays tribute to one of Louboutin’s most cherished destinations, Portugal – a country where he recently opened his own hotel. Inside, the boutique is separated into two distinct areas inspired by a daytime lounge and an evening living room, the latter of which showcases some of the Maison’s most iconic styles.
Whether it’s simply to take a look at the space or to secure a pair of the beloved ‘So Kate’ stilettos for yourself, we recommend you pay the store a visit.
