London Fashion Week made its return last week with a line-up of both physical and digital shows—a welcome spectacle after a year of digital only collection viewings.
Although heavy-hitters like Burberry and Victoria Beckham weren’t on the physical schedule for the Spring 2022 season, London’s bubbling creative scene means there was still plenty to see.
The subversive femininity we have come to expect from some of London’s most-loved brands didn’t disappoint. Erdem, Simone Rochas and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi all showed frou-frou looks that felt slightly askew.
Lingerie references came through strong too, Nensi Dojaka—who just won the 2021 LVHM prize—paired her intricately constructed bralettes with sharp tailoring. While the bustiers and bodysuits that have become a KNWLS (previously known as Charlotte Knowles) signature were worn layered up for maximum impact.
On the whole, much like the Copenhagen and New York Spring 2022 seasons that have just played out, a sense of optimism was in the air. A spirit that’s coming through in the collections via bright colours, exaggerated silhouettes and playful use of materials.
