Roadshow Films has released the very first trailer of A Star Is Born remake featuring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper and the internet can’t cope.
The film, which follows the story of a musician (Bradley Cooper) helping a new singer-actress (Lady Gaga) find fame amidst his own career’s downward spiral plagued by alcoholism, is the fourth remake of 1937 original by the same name. It also marks Cooper’s first feature film as a director and Lady Gaga’s first significant acting role in a movie.
And if that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, one of Cooper’s performances was filmed live on stage at Glastonbury 2017 ahead of a set by Kristofferson. That’s right, had you pulled the trigger on tickets to the UK gig you too could have seen and heard Bradley Cooper sing to a live audience – *sigh*.
In less than 24 hours following the trailer’s release, speculation has already begun with W Magazine pipping Gaga to take out a clean sweep of Oscars for her debut film performance.
“From the two minutes and twenty-four seconds we get it certainly looks like it could be an Oscars player (or, at the very least, a Golden Globes musical/comedy categories player),” writes the American fashion magazine.

It is also rumoured that this version could have only been possible due to the planned version, which was set to star Beyoncé and directed by Clint Eastwood, having never come into fruition. Well, those are some big names, yes, but after one watch of the trailer, it’s impossible to picture anyone else cast as the leads.
Other cameos said to be included in the film include Halsey and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni. But if there’s one thing to be certain of, it’s that 2018 is shaping up to be one remarkable year for motion pictures.
A Star Is Born will be released in New Zealand cinemas on October 4, 2018.
