1. Gown skirt, meet t-shirt
There’s something about a sun-washed Slim Aarons photograph that never quite goes out of style, and Harris Tapper’s Resort 2027 collection knows it. Taffeta sits beside crisp poplin, ornate detailing turns up on raincoats, and the evening skirts are made to be thrown on with a tee or soft knit. Velvet tailoring, a cocoon-shaped robe and the return of the Angel’s Trumpet bloom, now embroidered in sheer fishnet beading, round out an edit that makes occasion dressing refreshingly easy. Yes, we’ll be dressing up for the school run.
2. Handle with care
Hand lotions have always been made for hands, but Emma Lewisham’s Capsule Hand & Nail Crème starts with them. Palms, knuckles, cuticles and nails all need different things, so the formula treats each one that way. A veil of vegan silk proteins sits lightly on skin and lets impurities wash away, while ectoin shields against the elements and niacinamide works on pigmentation. Celery extract strengthens nails from within, leaving hands looking and feeling cared for, whatever the day throws at them.
3. Christchurch is calling
Fashion Week is heading south again. The Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival returns for its second year, having made history last year as the first time NZFW has ever expanded beyond Auckland. From 15 to 18 October, Te Pae will play host to headline shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, plus a jam-packed lineup of events across the weekend. Timed perfectly ahead of Cup Week, it’s the ultimate excuse for South Island style lovers to get up close with their favourite brands. Four days, one Garden City, endless outfit inspiration.
Tickets are on sale at nzfashionweek.com.
4. Spritz and glow
Tanning has a habit of demanding your attention, but BONNIE’s latest launch asks for about two seconds of it. BOOST and BRONZE are two new face mists, one for soothing hydration and one for a gradual, natural-looking glow. BOOST pairs Vitamin B5 with cucumber extract to calm skin on the go, while BRONZE builds colour slowly with no blending or streaks. Both are $58 and made in New Zealand. Mist, then get on with your day.
5. Meet your dry shampoo upgrade
Dry shampoo has long come with a trade-off, and Bouf is out to end it. Grease Lightning is the Australian brand’s new liquid dry shampoo, fronted by influencer Indy Clinton, it sprays on wet before drying down invisibly. That means no chalky residue, no crunch and no aerosol. Made with thin hair and baby hairs in mind, it also contains wheat protein to smooth the cuticle and boost shine. Consider wash day officially extended.
