5 things we loved this week

By Sophie de Renzy

We have self-care on the mind this week with products from some of our favourite skincare and wellness brands; fine china to spruce your morning table; new season dressing to see you into spring; and more.

1. Seeing green

Spring might just be finding its feet, but Winnie Catherine is already dressing women for the months ahead. Having first shown the Spring ’26 collection on the New Zealand Fashion Week runway, the label is now taking orders through its own site and selected stockists. Expect chic tailoring, sharp silhouettes and a welcome pop of green. Among the standouts is the Meta Jacket, a wool piece nodding to the 1890s sidesaddle riding habit of Jessie ‘Meta’ Johnston, alongside the silk dupion Holly Kate Blouse, with each piece made to order.

2. Take a dip in the Southern Alps

Baina’s Communal Bathing Series is heading south for its fourth instalment, landing at Aro Hā Wellness Retreat amongst the Southern Alps for its first New Zealand event. Guests will move through guided breathwork, a Glacial Lake Wakatipu immersion, and a contrast circuit through Aro Hā’s sauna, spa and plunge pool, before winding down with Baina’s apothecary range and take-home towelling. Taking place on Saturday 26 September, with two sessions to choose from. Tickets are $100 and go on sale this weekend, with spaces very limited so get in quick!

3. Less is more

Your skin does its best work while you sleep, which is exactly the thinking behind arké’s No.4 Bed Balm. Created by New Zealand skin therapist Renee Hohaia, the overnight treatment is rich in essential fatty acids, peptides and antioxidants, designed to support and nourish the skin barrier as you rest. It’s the final piece of arké’s simple, four-step system, built on Renee’s belief that good skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes skin just needs less, done well.

4. A pompon for your pot

Setting the morning table for a little theatre is the pomponette Breakfast Collection by Maison Balzac, the newest addition to the label’s playful design world. The collection sees teapots  crowned, handles blooming into soft constellations, and each piece carrying a hand-applied porcelain pompon. The Fine China follows traditional craftsmanship, made without animal bone ash, so it’s vegan and cruelty-free while retaining that beautiful, translucent glow to the light. Whether your tea runs black or milky, a pomponette tea party awaits.

4. Get your glow on

Can’t be bothered with the time, effort (or expense) of booking a facial? Shark is bringing the treatment room to your bathroom with its new FacialPro Glow, a five-step system designed to deliver a spa-worthy facial in around 10 minutes. Clinically tested and developed with dermatologists, the clever device tackles everything from congested pores and excess oil to dullness, dehydration and puffiness. The routine begins with exfoliation and deep-pore extraction, before replenishing skin with hydration and finishing with the gua-sha-inspired DePuffi attachment. Here, InstaHeat and InstaChill technology bring a little hot-and-cold therapy into the mix, helping to depuff and revive the complexion. Also included are two dermatologist-tested formulas developed in a Korean lab specifically for the device: the Derm Detox AHA+BHA Exfoliating Gel and Hydro Infuse BHA Hydrator. The end goal? Clearer, smoother, and perfectly glossy skin. Sign us up!
