5 things we loved this week

Planning a winter escape? Add this Parisian hideaway to your list, plus layer up with the season’s wardrobe staples, catch WoW’s return, and indulge in scents that linger.

1. On our wishlist

With summer days behind us, Moochi’s Palette Two: Obscura ushers in the new season with pieces designed for layering. Sculptural coats, textured knits, and tailoring meet subtle prints and earthy accents, from deep charcoal and evergreen to rich neutrals. Each design is versatile, carrying effortlessly from day to evening with ease.

2. Suite dreams in Pigalle

Planning your European summer? Paris has a new hideaway: Hôtel Massé, an intimate 40-room retreat perched between Sacré-Coeur and Place Saint-Georges. Designed by siblings Eole and Corto Peyron with interiors by Gasparetto Parenti, every detail feels bespoke – from velvet furnishings and Seventies-inspired carpets to playful tiles by Héloïse Rival. No two rooms are the same: solo travelers can curl up in built-in beds, while couples relax under sloping rooftops, sometimes with freestanding tubs. Personal touches abound – books in the lobby, banana bread and tea, curated magazines, and a striking Christian Rosa painting has already taken social media by storm.

3. Overcast

Who doesn’t love a modern classic? SOPHIE’s Autumn Winter 26 collection is exactly that. Alpaca and merino knits sit alongside relaxed tailoring and self-stitched shirts while coats and trenches bring a soft touch. Shades of Ink, Oat, Cocoa and Stone form a timeless palette. Pieces layer easily and feel comfortable without ever losing style. A simple wardrobe built to carry you through the seasons.

4. See you in Wellington

World of WearableArt returns to Wellington this spring, with tickets now on sale for GLO!, its latest stage production. Running 17 September to 4 October at TSB Arena, the show moves through six distinct worlds, where wearable art is brought to life. For the first time since 2023, Bizarre Bra returns, one of the competition’s most iconic and audience-loved sections, closing the show in a nostalgic way. Consider this your cue to book ahead.

5. The nose knows

If there is one thing we know for sure, Aesop stores are smelt before they are seen. Their fragrances drift into the street, subtle but impossible to ignore. That same attention to nuance carries through to Aesop’s Aromatique Room Sprays. Istros, Olous and Cythera blend botanicals in unconventional combinations – Pink Pepper and Mimosa, Grapefruit and Jasmine, Neroli and Patchouli – layered with warm notes like Cedar, Sandalwood and Myrrh. Perfect for home, a gallery, or workspace, these sprays turn everyday spaces into moments of calm and reflection, proving fragrance can be as much about curiosity as aroma.
