5 things we loved this week

1 November 2024
By Sarah Murray

New collections by Ruby's Liam and Deadly Ponies’, a brain drink by Ārepa, Karen Walker’s Fijian collaboration, and Emma Lewisham’s revamped serum.

1. Freedom of Choice

Liam Designer Emily Miller-Sharmer introduces Choice through three defining elements: ‘a bloody good time, the juiciest peach, and the freedom to make your own decisions’. “Liam Choice recognises the freedom I have to choose, in the hope that those who are in a similar situation will remember to celebrate theirs.” So what does that mean for us? Expect to see classic cuts with a slight flourish of a frill, a bow, or some ruching. We have the Delilah linen slip in butter added to cart already…

2. The Art of Bags

This season Deadly Ponies Resort 24 ‘Stucco’ collection transports you to Mexico City, and more specifically to Cuadra San Cristóbal. If you’ve never heard of it, trust us, it’s worth a google. The residence and equestrian estate which was built in the 1960s, and is a striking example of modernist architecture. But what’s so unique about it is its vibrant stucco courtyard walls, painted in shades of pink and purple. Deadly Ponies has honed in to hero these iconic walls – seen in both light and shadow – with smoothie-toned calf Nappa and a vibrant Jelly lamb Nappa. Naturally, the collection extends past pinks to include a bright yellow noodle calf Nappa, and a grounded base is provided by an ever so soft (and must have) cardboard coloured suede.

3. Brain Boost

If you’re struggling to concentrate around that 3pm slump mark then Ārepa’s new brain drink ‘Uplift’ might be just the thing for you. Formulated by neuroscientists the caffeine-free, lightly sparkling beverage is infused with high-potency B-vitamins, ginseng, and  L-theanine, which is delivered in a refreshing peach and ginger flavour. Team FQ will definitely be trying this on deadline…

4. KW x Rise Beyond the Reef

For the second year, Karen Walker is proud to partner with Fiji’s Rise Beyond the Reef, a non-profit organisation connecting her iconic brand with the traditional craftsmanship of women from remote Fijian communities. This collection beautifully blends ecological, cultural, and social values into handmade pieces, creating bags with a distinct Karen Walker touch—perfect for summer adventures.

5. A Supernatural Relaunch

Emma Lewisham is relaunching its popular Supernatural Blemish Serum, making it not only better (think more than 350 million live probiotic cells per pump) but also bigger. So why relaunch, you might ask. Well, the brand have listened to their customer feedback and have spent the past year working to address these points to improve the serum. The serum has been a game changer for acne sufferers because it has approached the issue from the root cause – the microbiome – instead of waiting for blemishes to arise.  Best thing? Although the vessel size has doubled, the brand is honouring the original price.
