Yesterday, Donatella Versace revealed her plans to collaborate with Zayn Malik for a capsule collection entitled Zayn x Versus.

British singer Zayn Malik and his girlfriend Gigi Hadid were spotted front row at the Versus, Versace Spring/Summer 2017 show at London Fashion Week last month.

It was during a conversation when Donatella Versace and Zayn bonded over their shared passion for the fashion industry, sparking potential for an exciting new partnership. Only a few weeks later, Versace has announced that Zayn Malik will be taking on the prestigious new role.

Zayn announced the news to his fans on Instagram and Twitter with a picture of himself with Donatella Versace, tweeting: “Thank you @donatella_versace for welcoming me into the@versus_versace family!”

When asked about why he wanted to work with the brand Zayn said: “Versace just seeped into my consciousness growing up, possibly through many of my biggest music influences; Prince in the red Versace suit for example, it’s a part of fashion culture and is iconic.

“The thing I most want to do with this opportunity is learn.

“Learn about how the process works, learn to be confident in sharing my ideas and of course be part of a process that I feel I genuinely contribute to.”

The collection, which will be released in May 2017, will be for both men and women. We are on the edge of our seat waiting to see what these two funky characters will come up with.

Another reason to bring on 2017!
