As we face the inevitable end of the summer holidays and slip reluctantly back into our nine to five routines, it can be hard to know what to reach for in our wardrobes after a few weeks of wearing nothing but linen and swimwear.  There’s no one answer to the daily question of what to wear to the office — especially with the rise of hybrid and remote work — but we typically favour an ensemble that is equal parts comfortable and chic.

For FQ editor in chief Sarah Murray, the perfect work outfit is one that makes her feel put together, even on those days when she’s got nothing on but meetings over Zoom. “I find if I put time in to curate a look for the day, I’m much happier, and likely more productive,” she explains. “Dressing well makes me feel good, so even if I’m working from home I’ll select my outfit as if I’m going out and seeing people for meetings or events for the day.”

Whether you prefer the simplicity of a crisp white tee and a pair of jeans or you’re more partial to a power suit, we’ve curated an edit of timeless pieces to add to your work wardrobe that will help take the guesswork out of getting dressed in the morning.
