The latest clothing label to grace the deep south is the sophisticated Moochi, taking up residence in Dunedin’s iconic Meridian Mall on George Street.
Set amongst the bustling heart of Dunedin’s CBD, the street-facing space reflects Moochi’s effortless aesthetic, complemented by its surroundings: a contemporary and curated mix of shopping and dining.
Receiving a warm reception from the brand’s loyal southern wearers, the store’s opening is a natural continuation of Moochi Christchurch and Queenstown, and a special milestone for Moochi co-founder and director Kellie Taylor.
“We create Moochi clothing for New Zealand women to feel effortless and add a little bit of luxury to their everyday. It is very satisfying to bring our iconic New Zealand brand to Dunedin. It has taken us way too long to get here, and we are grateful for the local following that has grown over the years. With both my children being part of the student landscape at Otago University, Dunedin has become part of our personal family story, and it feels fitting to have a Moochi store here too”, explains Taylor.
Aptly titled Moochi ‘Signal’, the brick and mortar space pays homage to Dunedin’s Signal Hill. Its monochromatic interior exudes a familiar yet uniquely Dunedin feel, matching the city’s distinct minimalist style through a neutral colour palette, clean lines, and metallic accents, and keeping with Moochi’s ethos of refinement, comfort, and ease.
“After a challenging past year, our Dunedin store is a momentous achievement. It’s a testament to our team that’s worked tirelessly to bring the concept to life and our customers whose loyalty and enthusiasm encouraged us every step of the way”, says Alex Phillips, head of retail and merchandise at Moochi.
