Glass artist Luke Jacomb

In the current issue of Fashion Quarterly Life, renowned New Zealand glass artist, Luke Jacomb, takes us on a tour of his West Auckland workshop.

On the day we visited him, Luke was too busy explaining the ins and outs of glassblowing to give us a blow-by-blow (pun intended) demonstration of the process. Luckily though, our friends at Homes to Love were able to enlighten us with a video of Luke producing the ‘Torchon’ pendant light. Designed by Cheshire Architects, ‘Torchon’ was the winner of HOME magazine’s Fisher & Paykel Design Awards in 2015. It was the second successful collaboration between Luke and Cheshire – their ‘Parison’ pendant light taking out the top honours the previous year.

Watch the video below to see Luke’s virtuoso glassblowing skills in action, and pick up a copy of Fashion Quarterly Life to read more about Luke’s craft.
