Gigi Hadid might be excited to star as Vogue China‘s March 2016 cover girl , but her loyal fans aren’t impressed by the publication’s Photoshop skills.

Since the supermodel posted the above cover image to Instagram, many fans have expressed their disappointment in the magazine’s decision to remove her trademark moles across her torso and stomach.

“WHERE ARE YOUR CUTE LIL FRECKLES. WHY WOULD YOU PHOTOSHOP THAT” one social media fan wrote.

“Wow they totally covered up all your beauty marks on your stomach,” said another Instagram user. “They edit you too much, you gorgeous birth marks and all.”

This instance of airbrushing isn’t the first for 19-year-old Hadid, who often faces mole-free Victoria’s Secret campaigns and has appeared flawless in Sports Illustrated multiple times too.

In addition to the vanished birth marks, Hadid’s skin has also been lightened – the presumed reason being that pale complexions are highly sought-after in Asian countries, like China, because a lighter and brighter skin tone is often regarded as an indicator of class, youth and beauty. According to Global Industry Analysts, Inc., ‘the global market for Skin Lighteners is projected to reach US $23 billion by 2020’, and India and China are at the forefront of the largest growing market.

Do you think the removal of Gigi’s beauty spots are a disappointing Photoshop faux pas, or should the matter be laid to rest?
