The bloom of spring

Flowerbomb is a cult fragrance. It lines the top shelfies of millennials everywhere, and not just because it’s our favourite shade of pink.

Miss FQ sat down to talk to perfume creators and fashion designers Victor & Rolf about their new version, Flowerbomb Bloom.

Why did you create a new Eau de Toilette for Flowerbomb – Flowerbomb Bloom?

We wanted to create a fresher version of Flowerbomb, one that maintained the essence of the original, but more airy and with an added infusion of flowers.

Where did you find your inspiration for Flowerbomb Bloom?

Flowerbomb Bloom was developed from our desire to create an airy fragrance – one that was synonymous with the burst of fresh flowers and the bloom of Spring. The addition of pomegranate adds a sparkle and we liked how the name “pomegranate” resonates conceptually with “Flowerbomb”.

How did you bring novelty to the Flowerbomb universe?

Flowerbomb Bloom captures the essence of Flowerbomb, but in a fresher way. Keeping the addiction of the Eau de Parfum with vanilla and patchouli, Flowerbomb Bloom’s floral signature becomes more aerial with a breath of flowers thanks to sparkling pomegranate and an innovative molecule called Living Liquid Air bringing the sensation of pure air to the fragrance.

How different is it from the iconic Flowerbomb and yet still belonging to the same family?

The idea of the fragrance remains the same – but it is a different version of this idea, one that is more airy. Both Flowerbomb and Flowerbomb Bloom play with the idea of transformation, where anything can be turned into something positive and beautiful.

How did you come up with the name?

Our creative process always starts with verbalising an idea. For us, everything starts with language. For Flowerbomb Bloom, we thought of blossoms, of the air in springtime, of ozone, of something fresh and breezy – yet connected with the big fragrance that Flowerbomb is. We wanted an uplifting name.

How did you work with the perfumers on Flowerbomb Bloom?

As always, we smelled a lot.

What was the creative process for developing the bottle of this new fragrance?

We wanted to express “Flowerbomb light” if you will. We wanted to stick to the codes of Flowerbomb and stay very close to the original and at the same time express a new feeling. The Bloom bottle is an elongated version of the original, as if it has been squeezed. We came up with the idea to elongate the bottle, almost to “slim” it, or in any case make it taller, as if it was in bloom, going upwards toward the sky.
