When we first met Rhyana two months ago she was an aspiring young fashion designer with a shirt, coat and jacket of her own creation. Since then she’s dressed Miss FQ associate and digital editor, Skye Ross, been in the presence of some fashion industry greats (one of whom we’d even go as far as saying is New Zealand fashion royalty) and she’s also designing a collaboration T-shirt with fellow It girl, Katie Rose.
To recap:
- Skye wore Rhyana’s amazing white shirt at NZ Fashion Week, and popped some cool pictures of it on her Instagram.
- Rhyana enjoyed a day at Miss FQ HQ where she met Zoe from Zoe & Morgan, hung out with stylist Kylie Cooke on a Fashion Quarterly summer issue shoot, and helped Skye and Jess from Miss FQ to style their festival shoot.
- Rhyana and Katie have begun work on a really exciting Make It Happen project. With the support of Make It Happen, they’re going to design, create and manufacture a tee that features art work by Katie which will be sold to raise some extra money for Katie’s chemo fund. The lovely Tanya Carlson will be assisting in the production process. Very exciting!
- She met with fashion powerhouses Tanya Carlson and Chris Dobbs from Working Style to chat all things clothing, and began planning for one of her other exciting Make It Happen activities… a limited edition version of her classic white shirt. Rhyana will be creating a small run of that amazing white shirt Skye wore at NZFW. This shirt will be given to some key influencers and media to introduce them to Rhyana – New Zealand’s next great designer!
- Rhy was also e-introduced to the very talented designer, Lucilla Gray.
- Recently Rhyana enjoyed a valuable mentor experience with Neville Findlay at Zambesi (OMG!) and met Simon Wedde at Dow Design where they talked through branding, logos and assets as well as blogging for her future business
