Lonely’s unretouched lingerie campaign continues to pave way for real bodies

16 October 2016

Just when we think we couldn’t love Lonely any more that we do already…

In an age where diversity and body acceptance are becoming increasingly talked about, but where stick-thin models still dominate the catwalks and the mag cover, Kiwi label Lonely is continuing to forge the way with their celebration of individualism.

Their latest brand campaign, showcasing their Spring/Summer 2016 collection, is a portrait series featuring images of nine inspiring women, from different walks of life.

All nine have been photographed in realistic settings, and none have been retouched via the magic of a Photoshop wand.

The diverse group include Kiwi model Georgia Pratt, ballerina Anna Collins who is Petra Collins’ sister, trans model Aurel Haize Odogbo, Slutever founder Karley Sciortino, New York-based stylist Marcela Jacobina, Art Hoe Collective founder Gabrielle Richardson, artist Ajani Lucid, model Paloma Elsesser, and campaign photographer June Canedo’s own mum.

Brand founder Helene Morris said the campaign was a celebration of individuality.

“Through intimate portraits of nine inspiring women, we celebrate our differences, our different ages, our different bodies, our different stories [and] the differences that make us who we are.”

New-York-based Kiwi Zara Mirkin, who styled the campaign’s shoot, created looks to showcase the women as a unique definitions of beauty.

“I just want women to accept who they are and appreciate what they bring to this world and very importantly be proud of what they look like—any size or skin colour.”
