
In my last FQ Insider trend report, I charted the welcome return of brooches. Heralding the versatile nature of the no-longer-outdated accessory, my socials have since been bombarded with fresh iterations of the pretty pins. Some lean into antique romance, others are resolutely modern, and they all have only upped my enthusiasm for this elegant second coming. Now firmly in the jewellery mindset, it’s time for an accessory update. With the price of gold continuing its vertiginous climb, we’re seeing silver play a bigger role in the jewellery sphere. Yes, silver is rising too — but it remains comparatively attainable, and designers are responding accordingly. High-polish, sculptural pieces are leading the charge, with the notable example being the wrist cuff. An elegant homage to Elsa Peretti’s enduring Bone Cuff for Tiffany & Co., these chunky bracelets are minimal, architectural and über luxe when layered over a long sleeve. Meadowlark has beautiful fine bracelets that look great layered; Missoma is exploring fluid silhouettes; Sophie Buhai is giving a fresh take with its silver arm cuff; and Maison Margiela, naturally, gives the look a cerebral edge.
Staying with wrists, the next trend we’re seeing is the resurgence of the cocktail watch. These delicate timepieces, usually in gold or silver with ornate, pearl or jewelled faces, are no longer relegated to an evening out.
