We’re always looking for new ways to elevate our beauty regimes, and what better place to seek inspiration than MECCA’s 2023 Beauty Election? Once a year, the beauty giant sends out a survey to their customer base across Australasia, asking them to vote for their favourite products from a shortlist of 114 best-sellers across 19 different categories.

This year, they received over 42,000 votes from consumers, finally announcing the list of category winners on their website and Instagram this week. From coveted classics like Mecca Cosmetica’s ‘To Save Body’ SPF50+ Hydrating Sunscreen to surprising newcomers like Dr Dennis Gross ‘Alpha Beta Universal Peel Daily’, there were some seriously splurge-worthy products on the winners list.

To make things easier for you, we’ve handpicked our personal favourites from the election, and without hesitation, we’re swiftly adding them to our cart. Here’s why you should too…

Fail-safe favourites

With products like these, why would you ever want to try anything else? It came as no surprise to us that these top-sellers graced the winners list.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops

It’s hydrating, it’s highlighting, and it smells heavenly. Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Dew Drops secured a win for ‘Best Oil/Serum’, and we have no qualms.

Mecca Cosmetica To Save Body SPF50+ Hydrating Sunscreen

If you hate the ghastly white-cast that many high SPF sunscreens tend to give you, MECCA’s ‘To Save Body’ will be an absolute saviour. Waterproof and non-greasy with broad spectrum 50+ UVA and UVB protection, you’ll find us stocked up on this one year-round.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick

Since it was first released, Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Pillow Talk’ has been a staple in our collections. Idolised for its long-lasting and pigmented formula, there’s twenty luscious shades to suit a variety of skin tones.

The surprising newcomers

Taking out the top spots in two out of three of MECCA’s new categories this year, these beauty winners have piqued our interest.

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Peel Daily

Securing the rightful win for ‘Best Kept Secret’ was Dr. Dennis Gross’ Alpha Beta Universal Peel Daily, one which we -admittedly- haven’t tried yet! Containing a good mix of AHA’s and BHA’s, we’re keen to put this chemical peel to the test.

Kiehls Crème de Corps Moisturiser

A good moisturiser can be hard to find. Featuring a nourishing blend of shea butter, avocado oil and squalene, this one puts in the work to keep your skin looking and feeling its best.

Best budget beauty

We all know beauty can get pricey – but it doesn’t have to be. These are the budget beauty products we’re loving from the winners list.

MECCA MAX Brow Guru Clear Control Gel

Achieve those natural, feathery brows easily and cost-effectively with this dream brow gel. Its hold serum will keep your brows intact all day, while its growth boosters will help them grow thick and full.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager

Who doesn’t love a good massage? For $29, we think this hand-held scalp massager is a great option to use alone to help stimulate hair growth, or paired with other products for a real spa-worthy experience.
