We’re embracing the changing weather with a delightful array of new collections from loved Aotearoa designers. There’s an abundance of cozy knits and luxurious fabrications, new autumnal shades (spoiler alert: brown is the star of the show), and plenty of cues to retro eras — because what goes around comes back again. Get inspired for your perfect autumn-winter wardrobe, and if in doubt, look to existing investment pieces you already own to build a cohesive look.

Marle

Marle’s Autumn collection ‘A Seabird Knew Your Name’ pays tribute to the notion that life is still beautiful and worth celebrating, even in times of uncertainty. Think grounding shades and dusky hues, soft merino staples, and artful ruching, not to mention the return of coveted signature styles (mimi sleeve, anyone?).

Launching on Friday 17 February, shop the collection at marle.co.nz

Hej Hej

Is there anything better than dressing in playful strokes of violet, green, and blue to carry you through the cooler season? Thankfully, the first drop of ‘Me, myself and hej hej’ has arrived from the loved local linen brand, with a second drop debuting on 15 March.

Laing

Laing’s latest collection is all about simplicity, focusing on pared-back wardrobe staples that prioritise quality and comfort. A range of cashmere sweaters and vests in soft blues, earthen greens and classic neutrals make for effortless layering, while a favourite among Laing’s sleepwear customers, the silk crepe de chine returns, this time in a covetable shirt style.

Kate Sylvester

Kate Sylvester’s ‘Portrait’ collection pays tribute to 1990s silhouettes, reimagined for the modern individual. Showcasing elevated shirt dresses and boxy suiting, the season’s stand-out shade is the auburn hued ‘tobacco’. The collection coincides with Kate Sylvester’s new space in the Commercial Bay precinct, with the fit-out incorporating recycled elements from previous stores as a nod to the brand’s history.

Caitlin Crisp

Caitlin Crisp ‘Season Six’ is inspired by the clothes the namesake designer would have worn during the 2021 lockdowns to weddings, on holiday, and evenings out with friends — from dreamy bias silks and prim pink sherbet suiting to sweeping bell-sleeve dresses.

Season six’s first drop will be available on 24 February at caitlincrisp.com

Juliette Hogan

Collection’ 2022.ONE’ by Juliette Hogan looks to the 1970s for inspiration, redefining prints and colours from the era’s soft pastels, jewel tones, and ‘Tropez blue’ suiting. Sharply tailored suiting is juxtaposed against flowing silk silhouettes, synonymous with the designer’s effortless mastery of subtle yet luxurious wardrobe staples.
