New Zealand is having a bit of moment when it comes to cutting fashion ribbons.
These are the latest world-class stores to land on our shores.
Louis Vuitton, Queenstown
11/9 Marine Parade
Taking après ski shopping to the next level, the schist stone and Kauri wood resort store is well at home in Queenstown’s environment. In the Skyline building, with custom Ed Cruikshank furniture to recline on, it offers a VIP shopping experience with mostly accessories on show – and a view to die for.
Topshop, Wellington
256 Lambton Quay
If the store opening queue all the way down Lambton Quay on Fashion Quarterly‘s Snapchat story was anything to go by, Wellingtonians were well overdue to finally get their hands on a Topshop denim jacket or summer dress. The new two-storey store in the middle of the capital’s busiest street is another sleek Topshop operation, with shiny white facades and plenty of clothing racks.
Tiffany, Auckland
33 Galway Street, Britomart
Finally, we can have breakfast at Tiffany’s, gazing through the new shiny windows with a croissant from The Store in one hand (and one of their epic coffees in the other). The iconic American jewellery store opened with the toast of Auckland fashion’s scene in attendance, including the FQ and Simply You teams, just this month. Occupying the entire floor of heritage building Australis House, the shiny new store was the perfect place for a cocktail party. How many of the brand’s forget-me-not blue gift boxes will walk out its silver-handled door this Christmas?
Superette, Christchurch
131 Cashel Street, CBD
Superette headed straight to Christchurch for its first South Island store. The designer niche boutique donned a shiny gold welcome sign on its windows while Christchurch’s fashion elite tried on Sass & Bide jeans and Senso slides inside. In a new development in the garden city’s shopping precinct, we hear it will be a neighbour to Topshop and Topman soon.
Mecca Maxima, Christchurch
ANZ Centre, Cnr Cashel St, Colombo and High St
This Mecca makeup mega store is the first in New Zealand. Although there is a Mecca in Auckland, this is the first Mecca Maxima and it comes carrying brands including Urban Decay, Too Faced, Lipstick Queen and Naked. It’s also brought with it, the brand’s signature big round mirrors on the ceiling.
