From soft satin material to wide-leg silhouettes, this season’s pant trends have something for everyone.

Autumn-winter 2022 runway looks.

Now that we’re into the swing of winter, there’s nothing more comforting than reaching for your favourite pair of jeans. But pants are just as perfect for winter too — and with this season’s versatile styles and choice of fabric, there’s truly a pair for everyone.

Scroll on for FQ’s favourite 6 pant styles to try this winter:

1. Leather luxe

Synonymous with rock bands and the iconic ‘99 film The Matrix, leather pants are an effortless way to grunge up any outfit. The soft and pliable material is water and wind resistant, which provides exceptional warmth to your pins.

Kookai ‘Iona’ leather pant, $520.

Paris Georgia ‘Rodeo’ trousers, $680.

2. Parachute party

Aptly named the ‘parachute pant’, this baggy wide-leg style is yet another dominating Y2K trend in circulation. We’ve seen it make the leap from the runway to being spotted on celebrities like Bella Hadid and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Dion Lee ‘Toggle Parachute’ pant, $910.

Off-White ‘Belted cotton-blend twill tapered cargo’ pants, $2,037.

3. Slinky satin

For a fabric that blends comfort with class, lustrous satin and silk is the way to go. Slinky, soft and chic, Aotearoa designers Su’mar and Francesca Pecchenino have you covered with their luxurious made-to-order styles.

Su’mar the label ‘Suitors’ pants, $305

4. Chic culottes

While reminiscent of school uniforms, culottes are ideal for those who love a pant they can lounge in. We’re loving the modern, relaxed take on the culotte, with elasticated waistbands for comfort and ease.

Cos ‘Lightweight Elasticated’ culottes, $195.

Kowtow ‘Culottes’, $249.

5. Pretty patterns

Move away from spots and stripes, because it’s all about making waves this winter. A favourite amongst fashion maximalists, patterned pants can easily add flair to a monochromatic outfit.

Paloma Wool ‘Visionaire’ pant, $389.

Find Me Now ‘Augustine’ pant, $185.

6. Low-rise

From Blumarine to Coperni, many designers have utilised the hip-hugging, low-rise style in their collections this season. While some have opted for slim, straight leg silhouettes to complement the lower waist, we’re also welcoming baggier, wider-leg shapes.

Bec and Bridge ‘Checkmate Pant’, $286.41.

Recreate ‘Kingdom Pant’, $199.90.
