If that special someone popped the question over Valentine’s weekend then tune in, because an appointment with New Zealand designer Trish Peng should be your first stop on your journey to the altar.

Peng has just released a Valentine’s Day treat in the form of ‘The Promise’ gown – a hand-beaded wedding dress made from 60 metres of silk and embellished with over 1,500 Swarovski crystals and pearls. As the finale gown to her ten-piece 2016 couture & bridal collection, Peng describes the $20,000 gown (which took over 320 hours to make) as “something out of this world” that would appeal to your more unconventional bride. With the designer shifting her focus to the international market, moving to Los Angeles in March, she wanted to create “something extravagant… a gown that would leave a lasting impression”.

The campaign, shot at Cable Bay vineyard on Waiheke Island, took inspiration from the element of wind, which seamlessly follows on from her underwater-themed shoot earlier this year titled ‘A Splash of Couture’. Peng said she wanted to embrace the element of wind by “accentuating the movement of each gown” by capturing the silhouettes and silk fabrics in each design. Elevated above a trampoline for each shot to achieve maximum height, the model is captured floating in the sky – achieving a breathtaking, ethereal effect, perfectly encapsulating the collection’s inspiration.

Peng thought the perfect time to release her most indulgent gown to date was Valentine’s Day – the day we celebrate love. If you’re looking to make a statement on your special day then ‘The Promise’ gown which “encapsulates the essence of eternity” may be the one for you.
