With every new season, a new hair trend seems to emerge, and this spring we’re celebrating all things texture.
Leisa Welch, stylist for Joico, shares her tips for creating a relaxed knot that gives a touch of nonchalance to an evening outfit and a flyaway boho braid that even those with slick straight strands can achieve.
LOOK 1 – Relaxed knot
Step 1: As with the boho braid, start by spraying the roots of your damp hair with (1.) Joico Structure Beach Texture Spray, $24, then rough dry with a hair dryer to create natural volume.
Step 2: Pull hair back into a loose bun and secure at the nape of the neck.
Step 3: Create a fuzzy halo around the top section of the hair by pulling strands out and pushing them backwards towards the crown of the head.
Step 4: Spritz with (3.) Joico Flip Turn Volumising Finishing Spray, $26, to set your style.
LOOK 2 – Side-swept braid
Step 1: Spray the roots of your damp hair with (1.) Joico Structure Beach Texture Spray, $24, then rough dry with a hair dryer, using your hands to scrunch strands and encourage volume, lift and natural wave.
Step 2: Use a thin-barrelled curling tong to add curl definition and texture to the ends of the hair then separate the curls with your fingers.
Step 3: Pull the hair to one side and braid all the way to the end, securing with a thin hair elastic. Increase the width of the braid by gently loosening each loop with your fingers.
Step 4: Finish by spraying all over with a small amount of (2.) Joico Hair Shake, $34.
