Can’t decide if you want Japanese or burgers for lunch? Have both.
In potentially the best news we’ve heard all year – you can now buy sushi burgers.
New burger joint Gojima has just opened up in Sydney, where instead of bread buns they use crispy molded rice to encase their fillings.
Between the rice is still your standard burger stuff like American-style dill pickles, white onion, crisp lettuce, melty cheese and beef patties (or two, if you’re up for it).
Staying true to their Japanese roots, Chef Chase Kojima (of Sokyo) has also added surprises like umami butter and a sheet of nori to hold it all together.
Is chicken or fish more your style? You’re in luck – There’s also fried chicken rice burgers and salmon sashimi burgers on the menu.
Whatever burger takes your fancy, don’t forget to grab some fries with umami salt.
For those of us tragically not based in Sydney, don’t worry.
It’s just a short trip across the ditch, but fingers crossed they’ll come over here to New Zealand soon.
