PRODUCED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SKIN INSTITUTE
We know that a common concern for many is the appearance of ageing skin, including dryness, loss of elasticity, wrinkles and fine lines. But what if you could rejuvenate your skin cells from within to enhance your natural look?
When we first discovered the cosmetic appearance treatment Profhilo, we were intrigued. Made from hyaluronic acid and free of additives, Profhilo may help stimulate cells to produce collagen and elastin fibres under the skin’s surface and hydrate your skin.
We sat down with a cosmetic doctor at Skin Institute to learn more about this innovative product.
What are some of the common skin concerns that a treatment such as Profhilo can address?
Profhilo may be the perfect treatment for clients who want to look refreshed and rejuvenated while maintaining their natural look. It’s ideal for treating the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and saggy, crepey or dehydrated skin on both the face and neck. Profhilo may also have a tightening and lifting effect, improving skin texture.
Who is the perfect candidate for a Profhilo treatment?
Profhilo will suit those looking for a more natural treatment and subtle change. The treatment is mainly sought after by women and men over 30 years of age who want to reverse the visible signs of ageing.
Patients with deeper wrinkles may choose to use a combination of treatments for their desired look.
How is Profhilo different to other treatments that are currently available?
Profhilo is a specialised hyaluronic acid that’s free of additives. It not only hydrates and supports the skin, but may also stimulate your skin cells to produce more collagen and elastin fibres under the surface of your skin.
The result is improved skin quality, firmness, texture, improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and elasticity, all while maintaining your natural look.
Tell us about the treatment’s unique formulation.
An additive-free hyaluronic acid, Profhilo has the consistency of honey that allows it to spread evenly through all layers of the skin and its supporting structures.
Excitingly, Profhilo comes under a new class of appearance medicine treatment called a biomodulator. Biomodulators are fantastic as they may help boost the production of collagen and elastin.
Profhilo’s unique formulation can be injected at specific points on the face and neck, and the product will spread evenly over the entire treatment area for a balanced result.
Why is skin hydration essential, and how does Profhilo help with this?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our skin that absorbs water and hydrates our cells. From the age of 27, the body’s production of this substance decreases and our skin becomes more vulnerable to the signs of ageing.
As an injectable and bio-remodelling treatment, Profhilo may hydrate the skin from within, improve skin texture, boost glow, and remodel skin laxity.
What kind of results can you expect from Profhilo?
Profhilo requires two initial treatment sessions one month apart. It takes a few weeks before you start to notice any visible signs of improvement, mainly because the body has to produce the skin-boosting ingredients itself.
Will the results look natural?
Since everyone is different and everyone’s skin works differently, the exact results will also differ. However, you may achieve a natural-looking and youthful skin texture with an improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Due to Profhilo’s unique formulation, the skin may also look healthier and more glowing in general.
What can we expect during a treatment session?
The first step is to have a consultation to determine if Profhlio is a suitable treatment for you with one of our highly experienced Skin Institute doctors or nurses.
The treatment starts with our doctor or nurses marking up the areas for injection. Profhilo is then injected at specific points that maximise its effects. These points are clear of arteries, veins and nerves.
The fluid will then spread throughout the treatment area and surrounding tissues, hydrating and stimulating collagen and elastin production.
At the end of the treatment, the team will discuss post-treatment care for the best results.
How long do the results last?
Profhilo treatments can last 6 to 9 months. However, individual results may vary.
