Australian model and co-founder of fitness brand Keep It Cleaner Steph Claire Smith reveals how she keeps her skin looking fresh at all times – spoiler alert, it’s much more simple than you think – and what products she turns to when she needs a belt of confidence.
Having experienced her own battles with her weight and ongoing criticism from the media, body confidence hasn’t always been smooth sailing for the tall and (let’s just say it) impeccably bronzed model. But, to her credit, she’s risen above these adversities and gone from strength to strength in pursuit of a healthy more balanced lifestyle. And hence, kicking off KIC (Keep It Cleaner) to spread the body-pozzy vibes.
The 25-year-old bride-to-be, gave Miss FQ the low-down on her beauty routine and the tips and tricks she’s picked up along the way:
What have you learnt about skin that you wish you had known when you were younger?
Less is more! I keep my makeup light and minimal and keep my skincare to a minimum too. I’ve also learned that sometimes it doesn’t matter what you’re doing for your skin on the outside. If you’re eating highly processed foods, not drinking enough water and consuming a lot of alcohol your skin will not thank you for it!
What’s the latest trick you’ve learnt that’s changed up your beauty game?
When I need to add an extra bit of glow or colour to my body for a shoot or event, Bondi Sands GLO is the best top up and makes my skin look awesome!
What’s your secret weapon that you know gives you your best possible skin?
If my skin is feeling particularly dry I like to moisturise my body with pure coconut oil and even use it to remove my makeup. I find it helps repair dry skin and gives me an awesome glow.
What are your beauty essentials for travel?
Bondi Sands Everyday Face Gradual Tanning Moisturiser, a great lip balm and face wipes.
Can you briefly describe what you might get up to in work and life on any given day?
Every day is so different! But generally, I get to the gym around 7.30am each morning, have a protein brekkie smoothie at 9am on the way to work, have meetings at the office until the afternoon, then a walk with Ari in the evening or some Keep It Cleaner recipe testing, and bed by 10.30pm!
What is your skincare routine on a daily basis?
In the morning I don’t use any cleanser, I just splash my face with water and apply moisturiser and a vitamin C serum. Then, at night I’ll remove all my makeup or just wash my face and sleep in a moisturising mask every few nights. I keep my routine pretty simple!
What cleanser/moisturiser/eye cream do you swear by?
Clinique Moisture Surge is my favourite moisturiser – it’s incredibly moisturising without feeling heavy or thick on your face and works really well under makeup.
How do you care for your skin in summer?
Drink lots and lots of water and cover myself in Bondi Sands SPF oils and sunscreen!
What’s your philosophy on beauty?
Less is more!
What’s the skincare product you tell everyone about?
Bondi Sands 1 Hour Express Tan and Tan Eraser. I go on about the whole range as I love it all, but they’re the two that usually really impress people on another level!
What is your go-to body care product?
Good old fashioned H20 and good food! Honestly, no amount of skincare can help if your diet is poor and you don’t drink enough water.
Do you have a favourite hand cream?
I really love any from the L’Occitane range, the almond delicious hands is my favourite.
Do you have a favourite bath or shower product?
I don’t play favourites with brands on this one, I love trying different bath salts for muscle recovery and relaxation. Big fan of turning the lights off, putting The Rat Pack on Spotify and lighting a candle whilst in the bath!
Who is your facialist?
I see the girls at Liberty Belle Skin Centre in Melbourne when I’m in need of some TLC!
Where do you go for your hair?
Rachel at Joey Scandizzo in Melbourne – she’s the best!
What is your favourite spa treatment and where do you go?
Full body massage at wherever is close!
What is your signature fragrance?
Britney Spears Fantasy, haha! It’s been my favourite since I was 12.
What are your beauty essentials for travel?
Moisturiser, face swipes and Bondi Sands SPF Sunscreen Oils.
Your best ever supermarket beauty find?
I tell everyone who’s a regular tanner to get the Bondi Sands Tan Eraser!
What’s your go-to product that gives you instant body confidence?
Mascara. I’m confident going fully makeup free but there’s something about a bit of mascara that makes me feel done up even without foundation.
